Leadership coaches

The Ford School has cultivated a diverse bench of over 20 International Coaching Federation-certified coaches who have experience in the public sector and are located in the U.S. or abroad. Coaches assist students in approaching workplace challenges with a growth mindset, curiosity and empathy, and with awareness—helping them become their professional best selves.

The coaching conversations with Ford students often focus on the same questions that I find my CEO clients confronting. That the students are grappling with these now means they are advancing in their leadership journeys to great advantage. I have much hope for the future, knowing this next generation of public sector leaders are developing this level of self awareness and leadership insight now."

She partners with clients to strengthen their ability to be who they want to be in this world as a leader and as a person, so they engage in work with more joy and enthusiasm. Create a process of collaboration: My work with clients is a collaborative process. Clients bring the content; I bring a process that encourages possibility and forward motion. The client is always in charge and they define the terms of their success and they know someone else is equally invested in those outcomes. Clients work with me to co-create the plan to achieve their outcomes and can rest assured they always have a co-conspirator in their success.

Structured approaches to professional development: Professional and leadership development is important and highly individualized work. I coach a client in this often challenging work with structured, practical approaches that produce concrete and thematic outcomes for the client; exploring who they are, how they want to lead, the impact they want to make, and why this matters to them.

Foster a vision of a client’s best self: Often a client limits what they engage in because the outcomes are uncertain or they fear they might not succeed. This risk-averse behavior limits what is possible for a client. We work together to cultivate a learning mindset and self-efficacy to build the confidence to produce the results they are seeking.

Engage in anticipatory problem solving: Obstacles, mistakes, and barriers are an inherent part of any growth and change process. Often the process for addressing obstacles focuses on a reactive model, addressing problems as they arise. My method involves engaging anticipatory problem-solving methods that create future readiness.
